Acne

Introduction To Acne

Acne is an inflammatory disease caused when the sebaceous gland (found in the hair follicle) which produces oil or ‘sebum’ get blocked due to dead cells and oil. There are many reasons for this blockage but the end result is the same. Bacteria grow in the blocked glands which may  result in a break out that we see as acne or pimples.

It is a very common skin disease, with 95% of people suffering at some point in their lives. Most people will have mild indications with occasional break outs whereas others will have much more severe episodes. It is vital to treat acne effectively and as early as possible to prevent acne scars.

There has been a lot of scientific research and advancement for the treatment of acne. Talk to our specialists and discuss the available options for you in detail.

Excessive Sweating

Excessive Sweating / Hyperhydrosis

Hyperhidrosis, also known as polyhidrosis or sudorrhea, is a condition characterized by excessive sweating. The sweating can affect just one specific area or the whole body.

There are many reasons for excessive sweating like thyroid disease or obesity. But very commonly it is just the way your genetic makeup is.

Sweaty palms and soles are a symbol of nervousness or anxiety. Sweaty palms and soles may also affect the quality of your life.

We provide a complete skin analysis and customized treatment plan for each patient.

Loose Skin

Introduction to Loose skin

Loose skin is the hallmark of aging. Most of the unwanted changes that occur during aging is due to loosening of the skin.

As we age the collagen and elastin ligaments of the skin reduce making the skin loose, simultaneously soft tissue volume loss along with gravity makes the skin sag downwards. This is especially noticeable in the face.

A simple test is to pull the skin and let it fall back in place. If it snaps right back it is alright but if does not and feels stretchy then we classify it as loose.

At Kalpana Aesthetics we evaluate the entire face as a whole and suggest the best customized treatment plan for you.

Melasma

Introduction to Melasma

Melasma is a common patchy brown tan or blue-gray facial skin discoloration, usually seen in women and in a few men in the reproductive years.

It is a type of hyper pigmentation that typically appears on the upper cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and chin of women 20-50 years of age. It is less common in males.

It is thought to be primarily related to sun exposure and hormones, like birth control pills and hormonal changes as seen in pregnancy. This is what separates Melasma from usual hyper pigmentation which is not associated with hormones.

Although Melasma is difficult to get rid off, a lot can be done to reduce the pigmentation and improve the color.

Moles

Overview Moles

Moles, also called Nevi are small rounded raised collections of cells which are usually dark brown or black in color. They may be present any where on the body and may cause problems by rubbing against clothes or may be unsightly.

Moles are very common and most people have at least one or more which appear in childhood and grow with age.

'Scarless Mole removal' employs RF skin surgery to shave off raised moles.

There is a very real risk of moles converting into malignancy, although very small.

At Kalpana Aesthetics we evaluate Moles over the entire body and suggest the best customized treatment plan for you. It is necessary to test all moles for presence of cancer. If there is a mole you don't like or a mole has recently increased in size get in touch with us.

Rosacea

Introduction to Rosacea

Rosacea is also called facial redness or 'adult acne'. It is not actually acne but continuous inflammation of skin causing redness and dilated visible vessels. Mainly affecting the face ( cheeks, nose, middle forehead, chin ).

Although the exact cause has not been been identified various factors increasing the condition have been described. It has a strong genetic basis but is easily treated.

Earlier it was believed to be affecting only the lighter skin but recent evidence suggests it affects skin of all colors and is prevalent in both men and women.

Not worrying about it is a mistake. The innocent looking blush gradually forms cystic acne like small lesions occasionally filled with pus. Gradually the skin thickens as in Rhinophyma nose.

At Kalpana Aesthetics we evaluate the entire face as a whole and suggest the best cutomized treatment plan for you.

Skin Tags

Overview Skin Tags

A skin tag is medically termed as an 'acrochordon'. It is a tiny out-pouching of skin connected to the underlying skin by a thin stalk or they may appear as bumps on the skin.

They occur in sites where clothing rubs against the skin or where there is skin-to-skin friction, such as the underarms, neck, upper chest, and groin. It's frequency increases with age and may run in families. They are not cancerous.

They are not painful but if one gets twisted on its stalk it may become painful or may bleed.

It is not good idea to try to remove skin tags at home. Simply tying them off may cause blackening and infection. A health care professional is most suited to treat the problem.

'Scar less Skin Tag removal' employs RF skin surgery to shave off the tags without bleeding and pain.

If there is a skin tag you don't like or is troubling you due to occasional pain book an appointment and get in touch with us.

Uneven Skin Tone

Introduction to Uneven Skin Tone

The skin of our face is not monotone. There is a subtle variation between dark and light regions which gives the face character and interest. But the difference between darkest-dark and the lightest-light is not much. It is ever so slight with smooth merging of the two without any sharp demarcations.

Due to aging and hyper pigmentation that typically appears on the upper cheeks, upper lip, forehead and chin sharp borders appear and the skin tones begin to look uneven.

Book a consultation and discuss your treatment options to correct uneven skin tones and make your face glow again.

Unwanted Hair

Introduction to Unwanted Hair

The best and the only way, to get rid of unwanted hair permanently, is Laser Hair Removal (LHR).

Repeated waxing and shaving does more harm to your skin than good. Shaving and waxing damage the superficial layers of skin making it more susceptible to infections, tanning, dryness and wrinkles.

A safe, effective and permanent solution is LHR. Just like a piece of black cloth absorbs more sunlight than a white one, the hair selectively absorb the laser light to heat up and destroy the follicle cells, keeping the skin intact. All of this happens in fraction of a second and the hair are removed forever.

At Kalpana Aesthetics we analyze your skin type along with the type of the hair and suggest the best customized treatment plan for you.
